Students will learn:
- Communicate information, ideas, and evidence in a clear, concise, and logical manner that allows listeners to easily follow their reasoning.
- Actively engage in a variety of collaborative discussions, thoughtfully building on others’ contributions while clearly and persuasively expressing their own viewpoints.
- Adjust their speaking style to suit different contexts and tasks, effectively using body language, appropriate vocabulary, and vocal elements such as tone, pace, volume, and pitch.
- Synthesize information from multiple sources across various media and formats, critically assessing each source’s reliability and accuracy.
- Analyze a speaker’s perspective, logic, and use of evidence and rhetorical techniques, identifying flawed reasoning or misleading use of information.
- Apply these skills in a real-world setting by participating in a competition that requires effective public speaking, critical thinking, and collaboration.
